Welcome to the Morningstar Exchange Traded Fund or ETF Centre, here you will find everything you need to know about ETFs. The site will include the latest news from the industry as well as our independent research. We also offer free access to all of our tools, such as the ETF Stylebox which allows you to screen funds by their investment style, or our Quickrank database which allows you to compare funds across a broad range of factors. All of this means that if you are interested in ETF investing you will have dedicated data and research on which to rely.

Within the ETF Research section of the site you will currently find articles discussing the merits of ETFs as investment vehicles, including a run down of their pros and cons. As the site develops you will begin to see analysis of new launches, as well as more in-depth research into existing funds.

As we state in our A Step Forward for ETFs article, the legislative changes put in place on 1st February 2007 have opened the door to overseas competition in the UK for the first time. Foreign offerings had previously been priced out of the market by stamp duty levies. As such our ETF database currently holds only 80 funds, ranging from the recognisable FTSE 100 ETFs to the not so familiar Soybean Oil ETF, but it is growing by the week.
